September Ride
Saturday, September 24, the club is invited to join our Top Hats in a ride to benefit Habitat for Humanity...the Bike to Build ride.  You are welcome to start the ride PRECISELY at 7:30 from the home of TeamGriswold, at 5203 Huisache, in Bellaire.  (Between Chimney Rock and Rice Ave and south of Bellaire Blvd.  713-665-4472)  Starting from the Griswolds house, the group will ride downtown to Discovery Green, where the charity ride begins.  The BtoB ride is 10 or 20 miles with a party afterwards.  Once everyone is in and ready, the HATS group will return to the Griswold home.  Somewhere, either on the way home or after we finish riding, we will find a place to eat lunch.  The BtoB is a pay-for ride and you can find the info on the internet.

Bike to Build
Come join your Top Hats, Janet and Stephen, in the Bike to Build cycle event in support of the Habitat for Humanity, on Saturday, September 24.  The event offers a 10 or 20 mile ride beginning and ending at Discovery Green in downtown Houston.  If we can gather some interest, we could make this the September ride and begin somewhere else (say, Bellaire) and make it a 30-40 mile ride with a party at the completion of the HHBB ride, and lunch on the return to the cars.  If you are interested, see the September newsletter for information, sign up and let the Bains know you are coming so we can gage interest in a club ride to the event.

Gosh its hot!
When I saw the calendar of rides for the year, back in December, I thought "Whadda bunch of wieners!" when I saw the blank for August - because it was too hot.  I'm still thinkin' wieners, cuz we still don't have anyone to step up and lead some rides.  TeamGriswold was going to do the August ride, but one of us isn't as good at roller skating as she once was and a tandem ride led by a single somehow misses the spirit of the occaision.  Still without stoker, I'm contemplating a September ride because my stoker can join us by auto after a ride and she misses yall.  God only knows why.  With the later sun rises and slightly more moderate temps, surely a few of you would consider taking a ride on a Sunday morning and inviting the rest of us.  Anyone interested in doing the Wedniter on a September Sunday, finishing off with brunch somewhere?

January, 23, 2011, The Chili Ride

Not that I'd know, but the day seemed perfect for a bike ride.  The food, I'm told, was plentiful and I'll vouch that some of it was delicious.  The group was sympathetic and interested.

March 13, 1999 St. Patrick's Day Parade

A small contingency of intrepid HATS members joined the strip joints, bars, eateries of Richmond Street and others in the frigid cold to celebrate St. Paddy's day.  Things to note:  our clothing (it was bitterly cold!), how small Amanda was, the "clown bikes" (sorry, Hanz...they didn't believe they were Real bikes) and the Out of Towner HATS.
